About Us

Ladies First, a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation, is a professional association of women engaged in the public finance industry. Though our target membership for the organization are women working in the Mid-Atlantic region, our membership is open to all professional women in the public finance profession.

Mission Statement

Ladies First is dedicated to providing educational and networking opportunities for female public finance professionals in the Mid-Atlantic region, as well as promoting the role of women in the public finance industry.

“Ladies First was formed to provide women in public finance with a venue to network and learn from one another. The group was originally conceived by board member Suzanne Mayes, whose former law firm hosted educational and networking events for female municipal professionals in the greater Philadelphia region.

In 2009, Ladies First formally organized as an independent association and broadened its reach outside of Philadelphia to include the western part of Pennsylvania and neighboring states in the Mid-Atlantic region.

We have two primary events each year, including our Public Finance Forum and the Annual Meeting, as well as other periodic opportunities for our members to meet. If you are involved in any aspect of the municipal industry, we encourage you to join us at one of our future events.”
